“5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Prejudices and Suspense…. it's hard to beat that

What a heartwarming tale of women struggling to make it in the 1800s. Times may have been very different back then but some things never change. Mary Lockwood faced abuse in one form or another all her life. At 15 she couldn’t take it anymore and run away from home. But what is there for a young teenage girl to do? In order to eat and have a roof over her head she went to work at a saloon…. not as a ‘working girl’ but as a waiter, delivering drinks to men at the tables.
Many years later she helps a young woman named Elizabeth escape. Elizabeth’s dying father had been tricked by the saloon’s owner who whisked her away to be a permanent resident of his saloon. Elizabeth was grateful to Mary and came back to get Mary away from that life.
It was time to go west and leave the abuse behind. But the move was anything but a bed of roses. Mary did her best to keep her past hidden and buried but that was easier said than done. Prejudices, jealousy and gossip were just as strong back then as they are today and Mary wasn’t going to allow the very people who helped her to suffer. Knowing how men blabbed when they’ve had a drink too many, she sets up her own kind of ‘sting’ operation. She had to find who was responsible for trying to ruin her and her friends…she wanted justice. And along the way she found love … in more ways than one. She found the love a good man who helped her learn about the love God had for her.”
“5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful read!

With this being my first book by this author, I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect. May I just say I was very pleasantly surprised! Her writing style, carefully scripted dialogue, wonderful characters all made for a delightful, read and left me eagerly awaiting her next story!”

I always enjoy reading Ms. Hoopes's stories. Each one is unique and I am amazed at the newness of each one.
Mary is ready for a fresh start but she is afraid her past will be revealed. When things are stolen from a new store the town turns on her (because she is new?). She has help from friends to solve the mystery. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.”
I love reading reviews, especially when you enjoy the book as it reminds me why I write. I recently got a message on Instagram from a listener that made me smile too. She stated that she had listened to many of my books and so she went to chirp to see what other books I did and realized I also wrote books. She told me that she loved The Cowboy’s Reality Bride and planned to read more. It totally made my day.
So, I hope you’ll take a chance on this book. It might be the last in the Sage Creek saga though I’m not sure yet.
Also, the giveaway ended for the 4 paperback books and ebooks. I’ll be reaching out to the winners shortly, but be sure to keep watching for more giveaways soon.
I’m hard at work on Beneath the Surface, my first psychological thriller, and I’ll be sharing the current story with paid subscribers below. You can still become a paid subscriber today if you’d like. And be sure to read below for the book deals I’m part of.

Here are the book recommendations for the week. Remember, we haven’t read all these books, but Rose works really hard to make sure the books I share are clean and match the values you expect to find in my books.
She’s the desperate CEO hired to rebrand a sleepy Southern orchard. He’s the stubborn heir determined to see her fail.
All’s fair in love and farming.

I fix things. It’s what I do.
So when I’m hired to fix what’s broken at Sugar Maple Farms, I see an even bigger project in the form of the sexy, surly, six-foot-five owner, Tripp Carville.
Tripp may be a thorn in my side, but lucky for him, I can see beyond his impressive, prickly front to the wounded boy underneath.
And I know exactly how to fix him: I’m going to make him fall back in love with Sugar Maple Farms.
Now if I can just keep myself from falling in love with him in the process.
Tripp
I’ve never been enough for the people around me, not for my parents before they died and not for the tough grandfather who raised me. When he unexpectedly passes, leaving me the famous (and failing) Sugar Maple Farms, all I want is to sell so I can leave the weight of being a Carville behind.
Until Jane shows up.
The woman is smart, salty, and sexy as can be. I can't admit it, but her vision for Sugar Maple Farms is captivating. Everything about her is captivating. While we spend every day arguing, I spend every night thinking about her.
I’m damaged beyond repair, and after never being enough for the people in my life, if I can’t be enough for Jane, I don’t think I’ll ever recover.
So I can’t let Jane in.
No matter how badly I want to.

When Elizabeth’s husband died, she scrambled to find a job. She found one at a lumber Mill in Wyoming. They couldn’t survive much longer in California. It is just too expensive here.
She packed up what little they had in an older model car, since her husband didn’t think she needed a better one. No time to think of the past now. She took out what money she had. She and her daughter started on a new adventure, hopefully a better one.
On the way to Wyoming, they ran into a freak snowstorm out of nowhere that turned into a blizzard, which quickly turned worse after the car slid off the road. Her little girl was screaming and crying. Elizabeth is stunned and in shock as her world starts to spin. Suddenly her door opened, and a very handsome man was asking if she was ok?
Will they survive the car accident? Will they get stuck in the snowstorm?
Will their life change dramatically, or will they have to go back to California?
