Well, I told you last post that this one might be late. However, I didn’t expect it to be this late. That California trip wiped me out though.
We left Wednesday at 7:40 am thinking that would get us there around 9 pm. However, I forgot to take into account that we’d be traveling a little slower pulling a trailer. On top of that, the kids took way longer at every stop than I anticipated, so unfortunately we didn’t get there till after 11. We had rented a house through VRBO and the host told us there was a touchpad or a lockbox to get in the house. Unfortunately, the touchpad didn’t work and when we found the lockbox, it was open and empty. The place had spotty wi-fi, so I couldn’t even use the app to contact him. Thankfully, my co-chaperone’s phone was better and we were finally able to reach him and get inside.
The next day we had planned on going to an aquatic park, but when we got there, they told us they weren’t open until Memorial Day even though I had called the day before to confirm the times. So, we went looking for a beach. We found one called Paradise, but it wasn’t very much like paradise lol. We stayed there for a bit and then went to downtown Sacramento which was super fun. Then, one of the kids decided to make dinner. I’m not sure how (I was watching the kids’ performances and giving last minute critiques) but it took over 3 hours to make chicken alfredo and it was another late night. I’m not sure I got more than 5 hours a night each night, but almost the whole team made it to finals and we came back with 13 medals and trophies which was way more than I expected.
I went back to work on Monday but it took me until Thursday to finally feel like I was back to normal. Then, we had a track meet until after 8 in the evening. Thankfully, yesterday we had a day off from school so I didn’t have to wake up super early. However, I haven’t gotten much writing done this week, but I am working on recording a new Tami Dearen audiobook. I’ll share about it soon. Until then, I hope you have a great rest of your Saturday, and I’ll send this week’s NL out Sunday evening or Monday afternoon. Until then, rest and enjoy some books.

Healing my grumpy billionaire heart wasn't on her to-do list.
Neither was making me fall for her sunshine smile.
Bianca is relentless—immune to my attitude and wealth.
This infuriating, hyper-positive woman is my only shot to avoid selling my stake in the team.
Ten grueling therapy sessions a month. Every one a battle of wills.
Bee treats healing like a full-contact sport.
I’d rather gnaw off my arm than admit I need help.
But her stubborn spark and kindness cuts through my gruff exterior.
Her laughter lingers, unsettling in the best way.
That teasing smirk? Way too cute.
And when she dances… pure fire.
I tell myself these “sessions” are a means to an end.
But the closer we get, the harder it is to deny I've fallen for her.
Getting back to Hockey means leaving this town and Bee.
I may love the game…but leaving her is not an option.
